Organization The Chelsea Soccer Club (CSC) is a 501(c)(3) corporation that consists of a board, commissioners, coaches and other volunteers. See our By-Laws here. - We try to provide an opportunity for kids four through eighteen years old to develop soccer skills. We try to provide a team for any child that wants to play. We try to make club decisions to benefit the "whole" versus to "individual".
- We try to provide a rewarding experience playing soccer.
The board, coaches and others associated with the club are all volunteers. The board is elected at the annual general meeting, which is held each spring. The soccer board officers serve a one year term for a particular office, while the members at large serve a two year term. The future success of the CSC will continue to depend upon the support and involvement of the soccer community. It takes the participation of many in order to have the Chelsea Soccer Club provide our many service offerings. There is an ongoing critical need to have parents of young CSC players get involved with the club at the board, commissioner and coaching capacity. There are many additional committee and ad hoc volunteer opportunities available as well.
CSC ADDRESS The CSC mailing addrsss is: 1178 Dunnavant Valley Raod Birmingham, AL 35242
CSC MEETINGS The CSC holds open meetings where minutes, finances and general club business is conducted. These meetings are open to all interested persons and we encourage your participation. You can contact any CSC Board Member to verify date and time of the next meeting.
PARTICIPATION AND COMMITMENT There are soccer seasons in both the fall and the spring. We hope all understand that participating in any athletics requires a level of commitment to the team by the players, parents and guardians. This means that the coaches and teammates need the players to attend all practices and games possible.
TEAM FORMATION POLICY Player evaluations will be used to assist the coaches and club with formulating teams. Evaluations are held at the beginning of each fall season. Classic and premier level teams (ie: The Sting), are formed when eleven or more players possess a skill level high enough to promote them to that level. Any team that performs strongly at the Rec A level may petition to play at the classic or premier level.
Under 6 & Under 8 Teams Children from ages four through seven compete in a intramural program within the Chelsea Soccer Club. Teams are not evaluated, they are formed by the club with coaches and parents input.
CLUB DUES Your CSC fees include among others league fees, referee fees, equipment costs, club operating costs, liability and health insurance costs, field acquisition and maintenance costs. The fee structure can be seen on our registration page that can be found under the info tab of our menu.
REFEREES AND SIDELINE BEHAVIOR Typically, when CSC teams play at the intramural level (U6 & U8), the referees are Chelsea coaches and/or parents. When CSC teams play at the U10 & up level, the referees are trained and licensed by the local Referees Association that is associated with the United States Soccer Federation. We trust that our players, parents and other spectators will show these referees the respect that they deserve. We also encourage all spectators to offer positive comments during the games and to allow the coaches to do the coaching.
Please help keep our Chelsea field areas clean.:)
